    MINNEAPOLIS --
    Arctic Cat Inc. (NASDAQ: ACAT) announced today that it has entered into an engine supply agreement with Yamaha Motor Corporation, expanding Arctic Cat’s purchase of Yamaha snowmobile engines starting in the 2014 model year. Arctic Cat initially entered into an agreement to purchase Yamaha 123cc 4-stroke engines for its youth snowmobile in 2009. This agreement has now been expanded to include select 4-stroke engines from Yamaha.

    Arctic Cat’s Snow Division Vice President and General Manager Brad Darling said, “The engine purchase agreement with Yamaha, combined with the engines that we plan to manufacture in house, will provide Arctic Cat’s customers with the most well-rounded engine choices when it comes to technology, reliability and horsepower.”

    Arctic Cat’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Claude Jordan stated, “Our current Arctic Cat snowmobile chassis is renowned for its lightweight, bump control and precision handling. Combine that with the new performance engine options from Yamaha, as well as our state-of-the-art engine manufacturing facility in St. Cloud, Minnesota, and we guarantee there will be exciting years ahead for Arctic Cat enthusiasts.”

    In addition to expanding the engine supply agreement with Yamaha, Arctic Cat also has expanded a co-branding agreement to build select Yamaha snowmobiles in Arctic Cat’s Thief River Falls, Minn., factory according to Yamaha’s specifications. This agreement began in 2012, with Arctic Cat building the Yamaha SRX 120 youth model snowmobile, and now will include full-size performance snowmobiles starting with model year 2014. These snowmobiles will be built to Yamaha specifications using Yamaha 4-stroke engines.

    “We are pleased that our relationship with Yamaha continues to grow and with the opportunities ahead for both companies,” added Jordan. “Going forward, we believe this relationship will provide tremendous value to Arctic Cat, our customers, our dealers and our shareholders.”

    Tais olla halvempi kokonaisuus laittaa jo valmiiksi testatut moottorit :)

    Ja jos se nuin menee niin kyllä tuossa pärjää molemmat merkit, voi tulla hetkeksi aikaa sulateltavaa toki merkki fanaatikoille :)

    Sitähän voi tehdä varaosahinta seurantaa tulevaisuudessa sumekon ja keskon välillä :)

    Niin, ilmeisesti AC meinaa kuitenkin tehdä 2T-koneet omassa tehtaassaan. Ehkäpä tän viikon julkkarissa tulee sitten ilmi millaisia ne on.

    Näyttäis siltä että ainakin catilta tulee Sr viperia vastaava laite catin omalla voimalinjalla:

    Tuola max sledin viperin kuvitsa bongasin, tuossa kuvassa näkyis olevan catin kytkin eikä yamahan...

    Sama rumba on nykysellään Nytrossa jos haluaa tulpat irti, ei puhettakaan että muuten onnistuis :-\ Toisaalta jos muistaa vaihella ne kerran vuoskymmenessä niin sehän riittää.

    Joo näinhän se taitaa olla. Tais se twinspar? runkoinen 4-t kattila pahin tulppien vaihdon kannalta?
    Kuitenkin mielenkiinnolla odotetaan mitä cattilalta tulee markkinoille.

    Juuri näin. Catilta tulee samainen laitos hiukkasen erilaisilla muoveilla ja tuulilasilla ja catin omalla voimalinjalla. Catti ei tule esittelemään ahdettua Yamahan konetta. Vielä ei osaa sanoa tuleeko kaikki samat 3 telamaton mittaa tarjolle Cattiin.

    En ole varma jatkaako 1100 vapari Suzuki vielä 2014 mallistossa mutta näin voi olla. Uskon että 1100T on vielä 2014 mallistossa, samoin kuin Suzukin 800cc.

    Olisin äärettömän yllättynyt jos Catilta tulisi muita urheilu/reitti/mountainkelkkoja ulos. PC on tuore runkokonstruktio ja Catin omat 2T-koneet tulee vasta mallivuodelle 2015. Sillon on myös mahdollista nähdä tehdasahdettu Yamahan kone, oli ahtaminen toteutettu sitten Yamahan, Catin, molempien tai MPI:n toimesta alihankintana. Sekin on mahdollista että Yamaha ei tulevaisuudessakaan anna tehdä PC/Viper - mallia kuin vaparina ja rakentaa oman mountainivehkeen eri runkoon ahdettuna jolloin AC jää ilman turbonelareita kokonaan. Catin 1100T ja monet aftermarket nelariturbot Yamahan ja Doon puolella on osoittaneet että niille kuitenkin kysyntää on.

    Jos Catilta tulee jotain muuta uudistusta niin se on sitten Touring tai työkelkkapuolella.

    Kaikki ylläoleva perustuu omaan järkeilyyn ja "foorumitietoon" eikä ole peräisin salaiselta syväkurkulta minkään valmistajan leivistä.

    Loppuun vielä pieni pätkä jonkun Cattimaurin haastattelusta, poimin Arctic Chatista:

    Why did Arctic Cat approach Yamaha to supply snowmobile engines?

    We already had an existing supply arrangement for the 120 engine starting in 2009;
    this led to discussions on expanding the program. Arctic Cat then approached Yamaha to supply the industry’s leading 3-cylinder 1049cc 4-stroke engine. The new supply agreement is beneficial to both companies.

    Why would Arctic Cat choose to work with Yamaha ?

    Arctic Cat strives to work with the best suppliers, and one of them is Yamaha. Both
    Arctic Cat and Yamaha are proven leaders in the snowmobile industry, by working together, both companies can learn from each other’s strengths, and in the end, the
    customer wins with better products.

    Is this a long-term strategy between both companies?

    Both Arctic Cat and Yamaha have a long-term vision. This is a multi-year agreement
    between both companies and it’s premature to comment on any future details or opportunities.

    Will Arctic Cat buy other Yamaha snowmobile engines?

    At this point, Yamaha and Arctic Cat have only agreed to share the 3-cylinder, 1049cc, 4-stroke engine.

    Will Yamaha receive any 2-stroke engines from Arctic Cat?

    No.

    What is the difference between the Arctic Cat and Yamaha snowmobiles?

    The chassis, engine and calibration are essentially the same, although the styling cues, color, graphics, wind protection, headlight and fairing designs are different.

    How does development work between the two companies?

    The development of the snowmobile from a function standpoint is driven by Arctic Cat. Yamaha is a partner and shares in verification and validation. Both engineering teams work closely together to ensure that the final product meets quality and performance standards.

    Will this agreement take any sales away from Arctic Cat?

    This is a very brand loyal business, and there are minor differences in the snowmobiles which can offer additional value in either case. More importantly, we believe our dealers are prepared to offer the best after sales support for our customers. The 3-cylinder, 1049cc, 4-stroke engine from Yamaha competes in the 135-hp class; a class that Arctic Cat does not currently have any entries in. We expect to gain share for Arctic Cat customers looking to buy in this category.


    Yhteistyö aikuisten kelkkojen rakentamisesta yhdessä on lähtöisin siis Catin tarpeesta mutta epäilemättä molemmille hyödyllistä.

    I happen to be in Minneapolis Thursday night and at the airport there were groups of Yamaha guys in their new Yamaha viper jackets. They are struggling big time with a turbo 4 stroke they can’t get it to work efficiently and cost effective. The only thing cat on these things is the pro cross chassis and font suspension. Everything else is Yamaha. If they could have made the turbo work the Apex would have been discontinued. He also said Yamaha and cat had to pay Suzuki $73 million to get out of the current contract due to inventory and for Suzuki to continue making parts for cat. They said the new Yamaha 2 – strokes will be awesome we will love them they burn 1-2 oz of oil per tank or 10 gallons. They will produce more rpms than the current Suzuki motor as well and will respond better from slower speeds to WOT. HP will be about the same for the 800’s . They didn’t talk much about the 600 but said watch out 800’s remember the old Cat F7? You’ll see in mid-march!!!!

    9000 on nykynen 1100 turbo.
    7000 on nytron kone.
    6000 on uus suorasuihku 600.
